Home Sweet Home (?)

Jas and I put in an offer on a house today after five long months of on and off searching. Unfortunately though, our fate lies in the hands of the feds. The house is an FHA foreclosure, which means that the government owns the house. So naturally, it doesn't go through the typical process of submitting an offer and waiting for a counter offer. Instead, our offer is a bid in an electronic auction of sorts, and whichever bid is the most "profitable" (as profitable as a foreclosure can be) is the winner.

They may tell us immediately: "Ha! In your dreams!" which would actually be good because then we'd be able to resubmit a better offer... Or they may hang on to it thinking: "This is all right, but..." in which case we're at the whim of the other bidders... Or (and this is what we're hoping) they'll say: "D*** this is good! We've got a winner!"

As if trying to buy a house isn't nerve-racking enough! So now, we wait.
